index ♡
where did the /index page layout come from? ( ´ ˘ `⑅ )੭
when i created this page (2023), i had just started learning how to code a site from scratch and at that time nyaa was a huge inspiration~ i tried to create a layout as original as possible, because i love to put my own essence and aesthetic into anything i own, but i took inspo from how things were aligned into columns, etc. my navigate container was also inspired by ribbondoll!
could i take inspiration from your site? maybe recreate something similar?
of course you can. i do not own the html language, do i? hehehe, kidding! but yes, i would feel honoured to have my work being used as inspo for something :3 i just ask you to please credit me somewhere in your page and to not completely copy my layout. be original and create something that tells your own story! you can study my coding and reutilize some ideas, but respect my (and your own) originality and remember that inspiration ≠ copying.
if you need help with any coding, please contact me instead of just copy + paste bits of my work. i would rather you do not use it as base for anything.

materials ♡
do you create your own materials for your site design?
sometimes, yes! not always. unfortunately i'm not that talented... but i try my best to customize everything i use. i'll always change the color of everything to match perfectly my own design and aesthetics~ my backgrounds aren't owned by me, but i did all the editing and set my own custom color. most of my pngs are also made by me (images found on pinterest or tumblr). the lace border i use is from here. oh, and my melody cursor came from here!
what about the arts you use as decor in your blogs?
every single piece of art will always be credited in the image’s title (so you can see the artist’s @ on hover or when saving the image on mobile). i also do my best to link each image to its original post, but this can be quite difficult when the artist is asian and only posts on douyin or weibo :( it doesn’t help that their art gets reposted hundreds of times across different social media platforms without proper credit... also, please contact me if you know that an artist does not authorize the use of their art and you see me using it! sometimes i’m able to find their @, but not their actual page. although they're always credited, i want to respect their wishes regarding the reposting of their art.

how to code ♡
i want to start coding a website just like yours! so, how do i get started? what is the secret?
first of all: patience. lots and lots of patience. i already had a bit of knowledge in coding when i started this blog (i had a blog before creating kkul, and even before that i used to work with carrd pro templates!), so i guess i can say it wasn’t that difficult for me (although it still took me three years to get to my current layout...)
what i did first was imagine how i wanted everything to look like, then i drew a template to see exactly where i was going to place my containers. i also kept sending my friends lots of screenshots of how my site was looking like and asking for advice on what i should change and what i should add next :') big thanks to júlia & gaby for all their help ♡
i would also recommend that you stop caring about how everything looks when you’re just getting started. first, focus on the placement of your content, and only later worry about decorating and customizing its appearance. learning about wrappers, divs, columns, header & footer comes first. what really helped me was constantly googling “how to do this” and “how do i code that” (trust me, for every question you have, someone on reddit has already asked it and found the answer you need).

materials ♡
where can i find materials to start my own coding journey? how do i find the right tutorials and templates to use as a base?
for tutorials, my FAVORITE website (seriously, i own it my soul, it helped me so much when i was just getting started) is w3schools. whatever it is that you want to learn, this site will probably have a tutorial teaching you how to get started. it teaches you html, css, java and much more!
for bases, here’s a list of fun sites that share their collections of free-to-use templates (please make sure to credit them if you use their code! this is still someone’s work): one, two, three, four & five.
you will always find all of my codes perfectly organized and categorized. this is because i use this tool to format both my html, js and css ♡ it organizes everything and makes the coding way more pleasing to look at (and easier to edit later)!
